I had the great pleasure of leading a delegation of 12 women entrepreneurs to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in honor of International Women’s Day 2018.
Celebrated on March 8th of each year, International Women’s Day is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.
During the week-long visit, the delegation attended the Global Women Leaders Conference, which highlighted international strategies on how to empower women to lead the business sector. The conference also provided a global platform for the exchange of best practices and knowledge on leadership and discussions on how to increase women’s competitiveness in the private sector by developing better partnerships with global institutions.
In addition to attending the two-day conference, the delegation also met with representatives from government agencies including the U.S. Consulate General and U.S. Commercial Service in Dubai, and Ras Al Khaimah Economic Zone to learn first-hand about business opportunities in the country, engaged in round table discussions with the Dubai Business Women Council, participated in pre-arranged B2B meetings, and attended high-level networking events to expand their global network.
